Primary Research Interests:
My primary research interests focus on understanding the mechanisms underlying individual identity development, maintenance, and change in older adulthood. Within this framework, I am interested in the components of identity, the processes through which these components become integrated into identity, the way in which life experiences impact identity, and, especially, the challenges presented to identity when the critical components of life-long identity structures begin to be lost in old age. Specifically, I am interested in how individual differences in identity dynamically relate to neurocognitive and psychosocial changes in older adulthood.
